Colby Quinn Mummaw, 28, of the 100 block of S. Maple Street, was convicted by a jury for one count of robbery for each incident following a three-day trial before Lancaster County Judge Thomas Sponaugle in June 2023, the DA detailed in a release.

During the trial, ADA Fetterman showed surveillance video from the robberies. Mummaw was shown entering the stores and pointing a black gun at the clerk. In the first incident at the Turkey Hill in the 900 block of S. State Street, he tied the clerk’s hands with plastic zip-ties before stealing $391.00, around 11 p.m. on June 20, 2022. In the second incident at the Turkey Hill in the 3500 block of Rothsville Road "the clerk refused to comply with the robber, who shot the clerk in the torso three times with a pellet gun before fleeing without stealing any money," around 4:20 a.m. on July 21, 2022, the DA said.

Ephrata Police Department Detective Brandon Bartholomew filed charges and investigated the case.

“Colby Mummaw is a violent and dangerous criminal,” prosecuting Assistant District Attorney Mark Fetterman said during the proceeding. “State prisons were built so violent and dangerous criminals like Mummaw can live there.”

Mummaw was sentenced to 10 to 20 years in state prison.

Mummaw did not speak at the hearing when given the chance.

He was on parole for a 2015 robbery at the time of these incidents, according to court records.

It will be interesting to see how he handles this stay at a SCI, as last time he threw feces at the guards, as numerous outlets reported at the time
